OVERVIEW

Salto is an access control system used by different properties to manage access to various location within the properties. This includes common areas, unit doors and more.

Mosino's integration with Salto Space system includes both data synchronization as well as generating mobile credentials. The integration leverages Salto's SHIP protocol to ensure both systems can establish a 2-way communication.

SETUP

Once the Salto Space system is setup, Mosino requires various configuration to establish a connection. Before the configuration can be set up, it's important to do perform a quick checklist.

Checklist

Ensure SHIP License is enabled. Press the "i" info icon top right side of the screen and press the "View Features" button. In that screen, ensure the SHIP item is green, indicating the SHIP license is enabled.

SAM & Issuing Options

Under System menu, select "SAM & Issuing Options". On the left side panel, check the "BLE" option if not already selected. This setting requires a restart of "ProAccess Space Configurator" service to take effect.

SHIP Configuration

Under the System menu, select "General Options". Select the "SHIP" tab from the page. If the SHIP tab isn't available, either the permissions for the connected users aren't set up correctly or the license isn't set up yet.

From the SALTO SHIP SERVER section, check the "Enable" checkbox and select "STP" and assign it a port.

Salto Encoder

The Salto encoder needs to be online. The USB Encoder will not allow mobile key creation as well as remote unlocking of doors or elevators. Therefore, the encoder setting should be online as well as setting the Encoder in the Dongle Mode.

To get to the settings, go to Online Monitoring and select the Encoder. If the encoder is online, click the item and from the details (as shown in the image below), select the "Enable dongle model" option.

Once the change is made, this requires a restart of "ProAccess Space Configurator" service to take effect. Give it 2-3 minutes for all services to come back and the system should be ready to generate mobile keys.

Windows Firewall settings

Important: Create an inbound rule for the Salto Port selected in the previous setting inside "Windows Defender Firewall with Advance Security". Once the Inbound Rule is created, it's time to create a network route / port forwarding.

Network Route / Port Forwarding

Extract the local IP address of the Salto Server. With both the PORT and Server IP, the next steps requires a Network Route to be created to allow Mosino Cloud services to connect to the Salto SHIP Service.

This requires the user to have access to the network router. Once router configuration is accessed, a network route needs to be created for for Salto SHIP service using the IP and Port from the previous step.

Whitelisting

To ensure higher level of security, ensure the route/port forwarding is white-listed to allow connections from specific services from Mosino. Since based on region, the white-listing information may vary for Mosino Cloud, reach out to the Mosino representative to receive the white-listing information.

Mosino Configuration

Once the Salto configuration is completed and the external IP/Port is collected, the information needs to be configuration inside Mosino.

Once the configuration inside Salto Space is done, configure the IP/Port information inside Mosino. Add a new integration and select the Manufacturer “Salto”. This should display 2 fields: Server IP and Service Port. Fill in the information and press “Add+”.

Other important configurations:

  • Override Privacy: this will allow the mobile key to override the privacy option with some Salto locks

  • Integration Type: BLE or TCP. BLE is used for Bluetooth Salto key and the TCP is used for all online Salto keys. These are the keys that can unlock the door from anymore, without being present on site.

  • Calendar Mode: this allows the keys to follow the calendar set by the locks. This is recommended to be set as “Lock” and not “General”.

Elevator Configuration

Mosino intercoms can be set up to interact with the elevator system in a property using Salto Space System. To enable the integration, follow the following steps:

  • Create the Outputs for each floor and cab.

  • Once Outputs are configured, ensure each Output is configured with the correct settings by selecting "Systems" menu, "Salto Network" and select the control unit node hosting the relays.

  • Set the Relays Type to "Alarm output and Card Output".
